On the point of view of outside fit, the HR function’s frameworks, structures and the executives practices ought to be predictable with the specific firm’s stage being developed. Authoritative requirements change with development; having a comprehension of exactly how the association is changing with development makes it more obvious the essential human asset modifications. Organizational Commitment Essay

The point of convergence of viable human asset the board (HRM) is on overseeing individuals inside the business worker relationship. As banks are viewed as a basic industry of the economy, it is significant that the workforces supporting these banks are all around persuaded and are viable in conveying the important work yield. It incorporates the profitable use of representatives to accomplish the organization’s business targets and fulfill singular worker needs (Stone, 1998). HRM tries to deliberately consolidate the interests of an association and its workers (McGraw, 2003). Therefore, inadequate HRM can be a significant obstruction to representative fulfillment and association achievement (McGraw, 2003). HRM rehearses in the financial business assume a key job in pulling in, inspiring, fulfilling, and holding representatives. HRM rehearses incorporate enrolling representatives, choosing representatives, planning work, remunerating representatives, and growing great work and worker relations (Noe, 2005). With the end goal of this examination, the analyst packaged five explicit human asset the executives rehearses. These are HR arranging, preparing, profession improvement, execution evaluation, and representative support programs. The analyst decided to package HRM rehearses since packaged HRM rehearses produce interrelated and complimentary capacities. For instance, preparing and advancement, and execution evaluation cover each others’ results. The examination of an employee’s execution will show possibilities and recognize holes in employee’s information, aptitudes, and capacities that will be filled in via preparing and advancement. Besides, the arrangement of HR rehearses produce collaboration adding to expand profitability and corporate budgetary execution (Huselid, 1995). Packaged HRM rehearses add to in general firm execution by persuading workers to receive wanted mentalities and practices (Bowen and Ostroff, 2004). In addition, Chang (2005) contends that workers saw HR practice as a restrictive and single practice instead of discrete and assorted fields. As indicated by Fishbein’s (1963) an individual’s in general mentalities towards each HRM practices can be spoken to by a summation of the conviction held about every HR rehearses. It is critical to examine HRM practices and its relationship with business related mentalities, and practices. Demeanor is a psychological condition of availability that is sorted out through understanding, applying a unique effect on the individual’s reaction to articles and circumstances to which it is connected, for example, work fulfillment and authoritative trust. (Allport, 1935). Then again, practices are habits in which an individual or gathering behavior and react to his/her condition like Organizational Citizenship Behaviors or OCBs ( Robbins, 2005). Representative view of authoritative financial practices and working conditions inside the banks of Jamaica impact worker perspectives and conduct (Guest, 2001). Existing authoritative practices inside banks in Jamaica, for example, HRM ought to encourage the improvement of wanted representative perspectives and conduct that add to upgrade firm execution. Past examinations have discovered that positive impression of HRM rehearses lead to positive representative perspectives and practices, for example, work fulfillment (Guest, 1999), authoritative trust, hierarchical duty, authoritative equity (Greenberg, 1990). Occupation fulfillment, authoritative trust and OCBs were the factors chosen to be concentrated in connection with HRM rehearses as these three components are key factors in hierarchical adequacy and these factors are considered understudied. These features influence and cover each other’s capacities and yields that add to the advancement of HRM rehearses. Moreover, this examination adds to the writing by inspecting a wide expansiveness of result gauges inside a similar report. The investigation expands HRM writing in three different ways. To begin with, it gives extra research in the inspecting the job of HRM practices to worker perspectives and practices since there are restricted investigations in HRM conceptualized as a pack (Chang, 2005; Guest, 2004; Huselid 1995). Second, it inspects the recommendation of Morrison (1996) on the job of HRM rehearses in adding to extra-job practices. An assessment of HRM writing uncovered that there has no examination led exploring HRM to authoritative citizenship practices. Third, it additionally all the while looks at HRM, work fulfillment, authoritative trust, and OCBs in one examination. Past examinations have inspected these factors independently. For instance, Ellickson (2002) and Bradley, Petrescu, and Simmons (2004) led the examination on HRM practices to work fulfillment, Tzafrir (2004) analyzed HRM practices to hierarchical trust. Besides, since there are restricted investigations on HRM rehearses inside the financial business; this would add to the significance of HRM rehearses in the administration association. Audit of Related Literature Human Resource Management Practices HRM add to the fulfillment of an associations upper hand through the vital execution of a profoundly dedicated and able workforce utilizing an incorporated scope of social, basic, and staff methods. Viable HRM prompts an association accomplishment by creating workers that adds to the conveyance of items and administrations bring consumer loyalty, business results, and investor esteem (Stone, 1998). The fundamental reason for HRM is to improve the profitable commitment of individuals wherein the workers are being heard by the administration and helping the representatives to discover new assets that empower them to effectively play out their employments (Ulrich, 1997). The pretended by human asset capacities is best clarified by deciding the key targets that they look to adjust techniques, create viable approaches, frameworks and exercises which are critical to the firm’s by and large achievement (Torrington, Hall and Taylor, 2002; Story, 1995). HRM capacities are basic in running a compelling association. Associations need to have a serious HRM works so as to keep up a capable workforce and achieve business goals (Newman and Hodgetts, 1998). HRM work incorporates arranging, preparing and improvement, profession advancement, execution evaluation, and representative relations. These capacities help associations to encourage techniques that permit them to accomplish proficiency and viability (Stone, 1998). HRM capacities must change in way that it achieves new jobs and new abilities. It additionally must be changed to bargain innovatively and essentially with the developing test. HRM rehearses have a substantial and different immaterial authoritative outcomes. Earlier looks into have discovered help for the job of HRM rehearses in anticipating hierarchical duty (Davidson, 1998), work fulfillment (Bradley et al. , 2004), and procedural equity (Edgar and Geare, 2005). Occupation Satisfaction Job fulfillment is a pleasurable enthusiastic state coming about because of the valuation of their work (Locke, 1976; Steijn, 2002). Despite the fact that activity fulfillment is a profoundly close to home understanding, there are various aspects that appear to contribute the most to sentiments of occupation fulfillment. Steijn (2002) expressed that intellectually testing work, sufficient remuneration pay, profession opportunity, the prepared accessibility of advancements, individuals that are benevolent, circumspect, or genial bosses add to work fulfillment (Johns and Saks, 2000). For example, the prepared accessibility of advancements is decidedly identified with work fulfillment. The advancement given improves the view of the representatives that they are esteemed enough by the association (Garrido, Perez, and Anton, 2005). Past examinations have demonstrated that pay (Bassett, 1994), open door for headway (Schneider, 1994), mental atmosphere, and administration style (Howell and Frost, 1989) are forerunners of occupation fulfillment. Authoritative Trust is an individual’s desire, supposition, or conviction about the probability that another’s future activity will be useful, great, or if nothing else not negative to one’s interests (Meyer, Davis, and Schoorman, 1995). Trust is viewed as a fundamental part in associations since it is a predictable component that bolsters authoritative change and advancement in an unusual domain than various leveled power and direct reconnaissance (Kramer and Tyler, 1996). A few examinations obviously demonstrate that the arrangement of trust inside work environment connections is mind boggling and tricky (Tzafrir, 2003). Besides, working environment trust is a vital component for the advancement of upper hand through help, co-activity, and improvement of frameworks. Trust is seen as a component of the social establishment that starts cooperations among parties (Mayer and Davis, 1999). As indicated by Kramer and Tyler (1996), there is a requirement for hierarchical trust for the explanation of there are authoritative necessities that are not to be uncovered and one of the components to address these prerequisites are workers that confides in their association. Currall and Judge (1995) characterized trust as an individual’s dependence on someone else under states of reliance and hazard. Reliance implies that one’s results are dependent on the dependable or dishonest conduct of another. Besides, hazard implies that one would encounter contrary results from the different person’s conniving conduct (Kramer and Tyler, 1996). Past examinations have indicated that mental agreement penetrate (Costa 2001), administration style and hierarchical correspondence are precursors of authoritative trust. Hierarchical Citizenship Behavior Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCBs) are practices that are optional, in a roundabout way observed or perceived by the official pay framework, and in general energize the compelling working of an o

The Ethics Of The Health Care Professionals - 977 Words

Knowing the facts and situation of Memorial Hospital during Hurricane Katrina after the fact makes it easier to judge the actions of the healthcare professionals. One way to judge the behaviors and actions is to develop a plan of what I would have done instead and utilizing an emergency triage and evacuation plan. The health care professionals at that time probably thought they were doing what they needed to do given the limited resources, time, and managerial oversight given to them. Hindsight has the ability to identify errors in judgment and miscalculations. The events at memorial hospital are no exception. One issue with judging the actions of the health care professionals is the Kantian philosophy of categorical imperative which states that rules are absolute. It will be hard to devise rules that can be applied in all situations and for all patients. Health care is not black and white and situations and patients are dynamic. While putting terminally ill patients in group 3 - the euthanasia group, assigning other non-terminal patients in this group based on the opinion of one doctor may not be an acceptable practice. Rules related to triage and emergency evacuation plans should be based on the capabilities of the staff and hospital and surrounding areas. The Rocking Horse Winner by D.H. Lawrence Essay - 1000 Words

With a household comes the responsibilities of maintaining a happy and stable family. The duty of having a secure family involves financial security, which ensures a household has enough to eat, stays properly nursed, and clothed. The level of happiness relies on the dynamics of the family itself, such as how supportive and attentive a family is to one another, but often times happiness is blindsided by money. Financial security and happiness can be confused and overshadowed by the aspiration of money and consumerism. Families provide their household’s financial needs, but neglect the emotional aspects. How Domestic Violence Affects Children - 2071 Words

How Domestic Violence Affects Children It has been well documented that children exposed to domestic violence suffer many forms of trauma, particularly children who witness violence inflicted by one parent on the other parent. To begin, Domestic Violence is typically not about one incident of actual violence but a sustained pattern of abusive behaviors and attitudes that may escalate over time. Threatening words and gestures become part of a pervasive atmosphere of fear. The intimidation is frequently life threatening. (Groves 2006) It is called domestic because it involves a family, a home or household, or a partner. It could be any member of the family or household that is practicing the violent behavior. Either way, the children†¦show more content†¦Imagine the hurt and shame a child would feel that is being beaten. Confusion as to why this is happening would probably be at the front of the child’s mind. They don’t know that the domestic violence perpetrator may abuse the child as part of their violence against their partner or to control him or her. (Radford amp; Hester, 2006) This could prove to be fatal for the child. One factor that has been found to be closely related to juvenile aggression is the quality of the interactions among family members. Research indicates that violent interactions within the family encourage subsequent aggression and violence, not only within the family, but also in other social contexts. (Elrod amp; Ryder, 2011) Next to be discussed are the emotional problems that domestic violence can create. Many juveniles will blame themselves for what is happening in their home. They believe that if they somehow could just act a little better or be a little more helpful, everything will get better. They feel guilty that they can’t protect the battered parent. They are very disturbed by the conflict of love and hate that they feel toward the parent that is battering. They deal with constant sadness and feelings that they are unworthy. These children are very cautious and worried because they don’t know when the next act of violence will occur. Exposed children may become nervous, and fidgety. Through dinner he missed most of her small talk and bought all the polite lies she told about her eating habits because his mind was busy with a single obsessive thought: She must move that scarf so I can see her breasts. When Tommy finished eating, Frederick came to the table. â€Å"Was there something wrong with your food?† he asked Jody. â€Å"No, I’m just not very hungry.† Frederick winked at Tommy and took their plates. Jody sat back, unwrapped her scarf and threw it over the back of her chair. â€Å"What a nice night,† she said. Tommy ripped his gaze from the front of her blouse and pretended to look out over the street. â€Å"Yep,† he said. â€Å"You know, I’ve never asked a man out before.† â€Å"Me either,† Tommy said. He had decided that he would throw himself at her feet and beg. Please, please, please, take me home and have sex with me. You have no idea how badly I need it. I’ve only done it twice in my life and both times I was so drunk that I had to be told about it the next day. Please, for the love of God, end this suffering, fuck me now or kill me! â€Å"Would you like a cappuccino?† he asked. She shook her head. â€Å"Tommy, can I trust you? And I’m a really nice guy and you’ll always be my friend. Right?† â€Å"No. I wasn’t going to say that.† â€Å"Oh, then you’ve just gotten out of a bad relationship and you’re not ready to get into another one. You need to be alone for a while and find out what you really want. Right?† â€Å"No†¦Ã¢â‚¬ â€Å"Right,† Tommy said into the tablecloth. â€Å"But things are moving a little too fast and maybe we should see other people for a while. I knew it. And if you need to think it over, I’ll understand, but I really need your help.† Tommy was stunned. No woman had ever said anything like that to him before. In just these few minutes she had come to trust him enough to lay herself open to total rejection. Women didn’t do that, did they? Maybe she was nuts. Well, that would be okay; she could be Zelda to his F. Scott. Still, he felt as if he owed her some sort of confession that would leave him equally vulnerable. â€Å"Five Chinese guys asked me to marry them today,† he said. Jody didn’t know what to say, so she said, â€Å"Congratulations.† â€Å"I didn’t accept.† â€Å"Thinking it over?† â€Å"No, I wouldn’t two-time you.† â€Å"That’s sweet, but technically you’d be six-timing me.† Tommy smiled. â€Å"I like you, I really do.† â€Å"Then let’s move in together.† Frederick appeared at the table. â€Å"Well, I can see things are going along just swimmingly between you two.† â€Å"Check, please,† Jody said. â€Å"Right away.† Frederick headed back into the cafe in a bit of a snit. Tommy said, â€Å"You’re going to break my heart, aren’t you?† â€Å"Irreparably. Would you like to go for a walk?† â€Å"Sure, I guess.† Frederick returned to the table with the check wallet. Jody pulled a wad of cash out of her backpack and handed him a hundred-dollar bill. As Tommy started to protest, standing to dig money out of his jeans pocket, Jody picked up her soup spoon and brandished it threateningly. â€Å"I’ll get this.† Tommy sat back down. To Frederick, Jody said, â€Å"Keep the change.† â€Å"Oh, you are too generous,† Frederick gushed. He started backing away from the table in a half-bow. â€Å"And, Frederick,† Jody added, â€Å"Batman is far more over-accessorized than I am.† â€Å"I’m sorry you heard that,† Frederick said. â€Å"An overdeveloped sense of fashion will be my downfall.† He looked at Tommy. â€Å"You’re right, she’s going to break your heart.† â€Å"Have you seen Coit Tower?† she asked as they walked. â€Å"From a distance.† â€Å"Let’s go there. It’s all lit up at night.† They walked for a while without talking. Jody walked on the inside and dealt with the barkers with a shake of her head and a wave of dismissal. To one barker she said, â€Å"Thanks, but we’re going to put on our own show.† Tommy coughed and tripped over a crack in the sidewalk. He looked at her as if she’d just announced the Second Coming. â€Å"I have to go to work at midnight,† he said. â€Å"You’ll have to keep an eye on the time, then. You read "Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story Chapter 8~10" in category "Essay examples"† â€Å"Right. I will.† I can’t believe I’m being this aggressive, Jody thought. I hear myself say these things and it’s as if they’re coming out of someone else’s mouth. And he just agrees. I’d have become a tramp a long time ago if I’d known what a great sense of control it gives you. They passed two tall women with enormous breasts and impossibly narrow hips unloading wigs, wads of sequins, and a boa constrictor from the back of a rusted-out Toyota. Shift change at the strip joints, Jody thought. Tommy was riveted. Jody watched the heat rise in his face, just as it had when she caught him staring at her own breasts. He’s so open, like a little kid, Jody thought. A cute little neurotic kid. I was lucky to find him. Lucky, considering everything that has happened. They turned on Kearny and Jody said, â€Å"So what do you think about my offer?† â€Å"It sounds okay, if you’re sure. But I won’t get my first pay-check for a couple of weeks.† â€Å"Money isn’t a problem. I’ll pay.† â€Å"No, I couldn’t†¦Ã¢â‚¬ â€Å"Look Tommy, I meant it when I said I need your help. I’m busy all day. You will have to find the place and rent it. And I have a lot of other things that you’ll have to do. For one, my car is in impound and someone has to get it out during the day. If it would make you feel better, I can pay you so you’ll have the money.† â€Å"Is that why you asked me if I had my days free in the parking lot last night?† â€Å"Yes.† â€Å"So it could have been anyone who worked the right hours?† â€Å"Your buddy works the right hours, and I didn’t ask him. No, I thought you were cute.† â€Å"I can’t deal with that.† He walked along looking straight ahead, saying nothing. They had passed into a neighborhood of apartment houses with security bars on the windows and electric locks on the doors. Ahead, Jody saw waves of red heat signatures coming out of one dark doorway. They were too hot for one person and too cool to be a lightbulb. She focused and could hear men whispering. She suddenly remembered the phone call: â€Å"You’re not immortal. You can still be killed.† â€Å"Let’s cross the street, Tommy.† â€Å"Why?† â€Å"Just come on.† She grabbed his jacket and yanked him into the street. When they were on the opposite sidewalk, Tommy stopped and looked at her as if she had just hit him on the head with a spoon. â€Å"What was that all about?† She waved for him to be quiet. â€Å"Listen.† Someone behind them was laughing. Laughing loudly enough to be heard without Jody’s acute hearing. They both turned and looked back. A thin man dressed in black was standing under a street lamp a block away. â€Å"What’s so funny?† Tommy asked. Jody didn’t answer. She was staring at something that wasn’t there. There was no heat signature coming off the man in black. â€Å"Let’s go,† Jody said, hurrying Tommy up the street. As they passed the doorway across the street, Jody looked over and flipped a middle finger to the three toughs that had been waiting to ambush them. You guys are nothing, she thought. Laughter from the man in black still rang in her ears. It had been a long time since the vampire had heard the sound of his own laughter, and hearing it made him laugh all the louder. So the fledgling had found herself a minion. It had been a good idea to leave her hand partially exposed to the daylight. She had learned that lesson quickly. So many of them just wandered until daylight and burned to death, and he couldn’t even enjoy the show unless he wanted to join them in perdition. This one was interesting: so reluctant to give herself to the blood. They only seemed to have two instincts, the hunger and the hiding. And this one had controlled the hunger on her first feeding. She was almost too good. So many of them, if they lasted the first night, went mad trying to live with their new senses. One night and he had to send them to hell with a snap of the neck and a fare-thee-well. But not this one. She had made him laugh; afraid of a few mortals whom she could crush like insects. Perhaps she was protecting her new servant. Perhaps he should kill the boy, just to watch her reaction. Perhaps, but not yet. Some other fly in her ointment then. Just to keep the game going. It felt so good to laugh after so long. Chapter 10 Walking, Talking, and Bumping in the Night Coit Tower jutted out of Telegraph Hill like a giant phallus. Impressive as it was, all lit up and overlooking the City, it made Tommy feel nervous, inferior, and pressured to perform. She had as much as admitted that she was going to take him to bed – had even offered to solve the problem of the Wongs. She was a dream come true. It scared the hell out of him. She took his hand and looked out over the City. â€Å"It’s pretty, isn’t it. We’re lucky it’s a clear night.† â€Å"Your hand is freezing,† he said. He put his arm around her and pulled her close. God, I’m smooth, he thought, a complete stud. I’m making a move on an older woman – an older woman with money. Now what? My arm is lying on her shoulder like a dead fish. I’m a geek. If I could just turn my mind off until it’s all over. Just get shit-faced and do it. No, not that. Not again. Jody stiffened. She thought: I’m not cold. I haven’t been cold since I changed, nor warm, for that matter. Kurt used to say I was always cold. How strange. I can see the heat around Tommy but there’s none around me. â€Å"Feel my forehead,† she said to Tommy. Tommy said, â€Å"Jody, we don’t have to do this if you’re not ready. I mean, maybe, like you said, we should just be roommates. I don’t want to pressure you.† â€Å"No, feel my forehead and see if I have a fever.† â€Å"Oh.† He put his hand on her forehead. â€Å"You’re as cold as ice. Do you feel okay?† Oh my God! How could I have been so stupid? She tore away from him and began pacing. The guy outside her apartment, the laughing man on Kearny Street, he had been cold. And so was she. How many vampires were out there that she hadn’t seen? â€Å"What’s the matter?† Tommy asked. â€Å"Did I say something wrong?† I’ve got to tell him, she thought. He’s not going to trust me if I keep it from him. She took his hand again. â€Å"Tommy, I think you ought to know. I’m not exactly what I seem to be.† He stepped back. â€Å"You’re a guy, aren’t you? I knew it. My dad warned me that this could happen here.† Maybe not, she thought. â€Å"No, I’m not a guy.† â€Å"Are you sure?† â€Å"Are you?† â€Å"There’s no need to get nasty.† â€Å"Well, how would you feel if I asked you if you were a girl?† Tommy hung his head. â€Å"You’re right. Sorry. But how would you feel if five Chinese women asked you to marry them? Things like that don’t happen in Indiana. I can’t even go back to my room.† â€Å"I can’t either,† she said. â€Å"Why not?† â€Å"Give me a minute to think, okay?† She didn’t want to go back to the motel on Van Ness again. The vampire knew she had been there. But he’d probably know even if she moved. â€Å"Tommy, we need to get you a motel room.† â€Å"Jody, I’m getting mixed messages here.† â€Å"No, don’t take it wrong. I don’t want to send you back to that room with the Wongs. I think we should get you a room.† â€Å"I told you, I don’t get paid – â€Å" â€Å"My treat. It’ll be an advance on your new job as my assistant.† Tommy sat down on the sidewalk and stared up at the lighted shaft of Coit Tower. He thought, I have no idea what I am supposed to be or what I’m supposed to do. First she wants me for my body, then she wants me as an employee, then she doesn’t want me at all. I don’t know whether I’m supposed to kiss her or fill out an application. I feel like one of those nervous little dogs from an electroshock test. Here’s a bone, Spot. Zap! You didn’t really want that, did you? He said, â€Å"Whatever you want me to do, I’ll do.† â€Å"Okay,† Jody said. â€Å"Thanks.† She bent and kissed him on the forehead. I have no idea what I’m supposed to do, she thought. If we go to a motel and go to bed together, then he’ll have to go to work, and when he comes back in the morning he’ll come back to the room, open the door, and the sunlight will hit me. Bursting into flames is no way to impress someone on the first date. Separate rooms is the only way to go. He’s going to get fed up and leave me like all the rest. â€Å"Tommy, can you go get your stuff tomorrow?† â€Å"Whatever you say.† â€Å"I can’t explain now, but I might be in a little trouble and I have a lot of things to do. I need you to do a lot of things for me tomorrow. Can you do that after working all night?† â€Å"Whatever you say,† he said. â€Å"I’m going to get you a room at my motel. I won’t be around until tomorrow night. I’ll meet you at the motel office at sunset. When you come back to the room in the morning, the papers for my car will be on the bed, okay?† â€Å"Whatever you say.† Tommy looked dazed. He stared into his lap. â€Å"I’ll give you money for an apartment. Try to find a place that’s furnished. And no windows in the bedroom. Try to keep it under two thousand a month.† Tommy didn’t look up. â€Å"Whatever you say.† I’ve taken over his mind, she thought. It’s just like in the movies, when the vampire can control people’s actions. I don’t want that. I don’t want to force him with my will. It’s not fair. He was helpless enough, but now I’ve turned him into a zombie. I want help, but I don’t want this. I wonder if there’s enough of his mind left even to function, or if I’ve ruined him. â€Å"Tommy,† she said sternly, â€Å"I want you to climb to the top of the tower and jump off.† He looked up. â€Å"Are you out of your mind?† She threw her arms around him, kissed him, and said, â€Å"Oh, I’m so glad I didn’t turn you into a vegetable.† â€Å"I’ll give you time,† he said. Jody stood outside the four-story apartment building on Chestnut, watching and listening. There were no lights on in Kurt’s apartment. Already it had become Kurt’s apartment, not hers, not theirs. The moment she asked Tommy out, she had transferred whatever dreams and delusions she attached to being a couple to Tommy. It was always that way for her. She didn’t like to be alone. She and Tommy had walked Telegraph Park talking about their past lives and avoiding the subject of a singular, future life until it was time for Tommy to go to work. Jody had called a cab from a pay phone and dropped Tommy off at the store with a kiss and a promise. â€Å"I’ll see you tomorrow night.† It was only when she got out of the cab at the motel that she realized that the registration and pink slip for her car were still at Kurt’s. Why didn’t I take a damn key when I left? She toyed with the idea of ringing the bell, but the thought of looking Kurt in the eye after what she had done to him†¦ No, she’d have to get in on her own. Going through the two fire doors and the security bolts wasn’t an option. The building was a pseudo-Victorian, the facade decorated with prefabricated bolt-on gingerbread. Jody tried to imagine herself climbing the front of the building and shuddered. To her relief, the side panels on the fourth-floor bay window were closed. No way in there. There was a five-foot-wide alley between Kurt’s building and the one next to it. The bedroom window was on that side. No gingerbread for handholds there. She went to the alley and looked up. The bedroom window was open and the wall was as smooth as polished stone. She eyed the space between the two buildings. With her hands against one side and her feet against the other, she could spider her way up the wall. She’d seen guys climbing chimney crevices at Yosemite that way. Experienced climbers, with equipment. Not secretaries who avoided escalators for fear of breaking a heel. She focused on the open window and listened. The sound of someone breathing deeply, sleeping. No, it was the sound of two people sleeping. â€Å"You bastard.† She leaped into the air and caught herself between the two buildings, six feet off the ground, her feet against one, hands against the other. She was amazed that she could do it, but it wasn’t that hard. It wasn’t hard at all. She tested her weight against the tension in her limbs and it felt solid. She held herself with one hand while she pulled her skirt up over her hips with the other, then she tried a tentative step up. Hand, foot, hand, foot. When she paused to look down she was right under Kurt’s window, forty feet off the ground, with only a garbage can and a stray cat to break her fall. She tried to catch her breath, then realized that she wasn’t out of breath. She felt as if she could hold herself there for hours if she needed to. But the fear of falling pushed her on. You’re not immortal. You can still be killed. She pushed the screen loose from the window with her left hand, got a grip on the windowsill, then loosed the tension in her legs and swung down against Kurt’s building. Hanging by one hand, she removed the screen with the other and lowered it to the floor inside, then pulled herself up to the windowsill, where she crouched and looked around the room. Two people were in the bed. She could see their heat signatures rising through the covers and being dissipated by the cold breeze coming through the window. No wonder I complained about the cold. She stepped into the room and waited to see if the sleepers stirred. Nothing. She moved to the side of the bed and looked at the woman with almost scientific detachment. It was Susan Badistone. Jody had met her at Kurt’s office picnic and had disliked her immediately. Her straight blond hair was spread over the pillow. Jody twisted a lock of her own curly red hair around her finger. So this is what he wanted. And that’s an after-market nose if I’ve ever seen one. But it’s all about appearances, isn’t it, Kurt? Jody grabbed the covers and lifted them far enough to look under. She’s got the body of a twelve-year-old boy. Oh Kurt, you should have let her finish the surgery schedule before you brought her home. She let the covers fall and Susan stirred. Jody backed away from the bed slowly. She had kept all of her papers in an expandable file under the sink in the bathroom. She went to the bathroom and palmed the cabinet open. The file was still there. She grabbed it and headed for the window. â€Å"Who’s there?† Kurt said. He sat up in bed and stared into the dark. Jody ducked below the light coming in the window and watched him. â€Å"I said, who’s there?† â€Å"What’s a matter?† a groggy Susan said. â€Å"I heard something.† â€Å"It’s nothing, honey. You’re just jumpy after what that horrible woman did to you.† I could snap her scrawny blond neck, Jody thought. Then, in thinking it, in knowing that she could actually do it, she was no longer angry. I’m not â€Å"that horrible woman,† she thought. I’m a vampire, and no amount of plastic surgery, or breeding, or money will ever make you my equal. I am a god. For the first time since the transformation Jody felt calm, comfortable in her own skin. She waited there in the dark until they fell asleep again, then she climbed out the window and replaced the screen. She stood on the window ledge and threw the expandable file on the roof, then leaped up, grabbed the gutter, and pulled herself onto the roof. At the back of the building she found a steel ladder that went all the way to the ground. The climb between the two buildings had been completely unnecessary. Okay, not a particularly smart god, but at least a god who has her original nose. How to cite Bloodsucking Fiends: A Love Story Chapter 8~10, Essay examples

Travel and Tourism in Society for Blue Mountain - myassignmenthelp

Question: Discuss about the Travel and Tourism in Society for Blue Mountain. Answer: The Blue Mountain is one of the best tourism destination in Australia. It is located 50 kilometers from Sydney CBD. It covers an area of approximately 4402 square miles. It has a rugged terrain with a wonderful view. This mountain is also known for its dramatic scenery, steep cliffs, and beautiful waterfalls. There are wonderful guest houses dotted all over the village to accommodate tourists. The Blue Mountain also has a big eucalyptus forest. This tourist destination is well designed in such a manner that it has gardens, galleries, and wonderful bushwalking trails. This tourist destination is constructed in a way that it incorporates the socio-cultural aspects of the neighboring community. This is essential as it gives tourists a taste of the local lifestyle and culture. The Blue Mountain borders Katoomba area and a National Park. All this adds to the beauty of destination as a tourist attraction. The huge acreage of the eucalyptus tree gives the blue mountain a blue haze hence the name blue mountain. There are also underground rivers, limestone crystals among others. This mountain is not short of beauty. This tourist destination is constructed in a way that it can host various outdoor activities for tourists. Rock climbing is one of the activities. Tourist can also go hiking. From Sydney central station, it takes just around two hours by train from one to arrive at Katoomba. From Katoomba, there are several bus services to assist visiting tourists to access their preferred destination. There are wonderful village constructions where tourists can purchase some of the area's best art at galleries. As a tourist attraction, Blue Mountain has excellent restaurant constructed purposefully to serve tourists. All the tourists needs are comfortably addressed at the Blue Mountain. Literature review The ecosystem of the Blue Mountain is highly variable and very complex. This is due to the fact that there is a complex interaction between the mountains land, water, air and the vegetation (Hall, et al., 2013). The intensity of the interactions is seriously influenced by human beings (tourists). It is very much evident that the human interaction with the mountain is closely woven going by the landscape process present in the Blue Mountain. It has been observed that the forest has a challenge when it comes to damage by insects, human activity and natural plant diseases among other factors (Harris Leiper, 2012). This, therefore, calls for the input of every concerned authority to initiate vigorous environmental conservation initiative. This is important given that as a tourist attraction, the blue mountain brings in a lot of money to the economy of the nation and improves the lives of the local people around the tourist attraction site. The blue mountain management has to deal with challenges that it normally face such as wildfires. Conservation is key in all this aspect. A balance must be achieved between tourists spending and the conservation of the Blue Mountain. The numerous number of tourist often flock to this site and it is important therefore that proper conservation procedures are laid down to secure the tourist attraction for future generations (Griffin, 2014). Even though the blue mountain is a beautiful an attractive tourist destination, it is a park that is under a lot of pressure. A huge number of species that are vulnerable are present in the Park. Therefore maintaining the wilderness is some a challenge to the authorities. This requires proper conservation measures to be put in place to help curb potential challenges well in advance. Discussion of observations The tourist signs used to direct tourists in the Blue Mountain are often written in one language which is English. This ought to be improved. It is essential to have other languages as well to give a tourist a sense of belonging and to make them feel at home (Anon., 2017). This is important since tourists need to feel that they belong. Besides, it makes the life of tourist much easier as they can travel on their own even in the absence of a tour guide or an interpreter The entire Blue Mountain is endowed with different climatic conditions. Parts of the Blue Mountain especially the northern parts of the tourist attraction destination experiences some sort of a relatively cool climate. It has disparities in topography as well. A climate that is slightly moist and a bit cool is found within the mixed zone of the forest (Hall, et al., 2013). The southern part of the forest experiences a warmer and a bit dry weather most parts of the year. The driest zone is the southern part of the forest. The effects befalling some parts of the Blue Mountain are hindering tourism. There has been a decline in the number of tourist in the Blue Mountain owing to the challenges faced by the forest. Innovation and development are still lacking in some parts of the Blue Mountain. Katoomba is one of the towns that could have some of the worlds most vibrant conference venues. Being the main tourist town that is situated in the Blue Mountains, it could serve as one of the getaway destinations for top diplomats to unwind. It is just an hours drive from Sydney which is another big town yet it is not getting much attention from the locals (Williams, 2015). Katoomba is situated between some of the best parks in the world and as such should be more appealing even to the local population. Local tourism needs to be boosted by changing the mindset of the local people through the development of towns such as Katoomba. The lack of interest from local Sydney people to frequent Katoomba is due to lack of development by the tourism management body of Blue Mountain. Analysis of observations The ecosystem is the driving force behind the huge number of tourists flocking the Blue Mountain. By comparing the three physiographic zones of the Blue Mountain, it is evident that there is less of fir forest. Pollution is also evident in other parts of the forest. These are some of the negative acts that negatively influence the tourists behavior (Griffin, 2014). Due to environmental pollution, tourists may be less outgoing as they fear contracting diseases from a dirty environment. This further affects even the sales of food items. In order for the Blue Mountain to remain as a preferred tourist destination, it is important to have the environment cleaned. These pollutants may find their way into the streams and endanger the lives of the wildlife in the National Park as well. The Park must be protected by protecting the mountain. This requires proper work and planning. The number of eucalyptus trees that give the forest its blue color is also at risk due to forest fires. In many instances it is evident that various elements that contribute to the attractive nature of the Blue Mountain can only be managed by such activities such as tree planting especially in areas that timber harvesting might be taking place, forest fire control, restocking of certain fish species in the streams among others. This is essential as it contributes to the wholeness of the blue mountain (Anon., 2017). The main reasons why Blue Mountain experience high tourist demand arises from the fact that it has a majority of the various climatic conditions under one places. Moreover, the beautiful sceneries give it a completeness that can only be found at this destination. It has rivers, a National Park, and a variety of outdoor activities. From observation, it could be seen that a majority of the river basins especially to the southern parts of the mountain show that the rivers exp erience some level of high ponderosa density (Anon., 20017). As a result, the river basins exhibit high levels of fuel availability than is natural. It is possible to return all processes to their natural state by taking care of the Blue Mountain ecosystem. It is possible for this ecosystem to regain its strength, power and beautify in some affected area naturally if proper care is taken to avoid tourist activities that might affect the well-being of the forest. It also evident that apart from the issues to do with the ecosystem that is contributing to the decline in tourists numbers, there is another factor. The lack of proper development of adjacent town Katoomba as well as the inadequate travel service. Findings This report reveals that tourist signs are written in just a single language which is not encouraging for those who are non-English speakers. The National Park contributes a lot in increasing tourist revenues. It is one of the best tourist attraction. As such it needs to be safeguarded against harsh climatic conditions that may lead to the death of the wildlife. Tourist behavior is influenced by the environment greatly. It is thus important to ensure that environmental pollution is controlled in order to appeal to more tourists. The Blue Mountain has varied climatic patterns in its various zones. These zones need proper care from the management authority since they are endowed differently. Lack of development in the nearby town Katoomba is hindering tourism. The locals have little interest in the blue mountain. Local tourism is not properly promoted. Conclusion The Blue Mountain has a lot of potential as a tourist attraction site. It has various attractive sites such as the Eaglehawk Lookout which gives a wonderful view of the three sisters as it is commonly known. Outdoor activities which help tourists to unwind need to be improved and more brought onboard. With the vast area available, there is room for other outdoor activities to be initiated. Local tourism also needs to be promoted. This can be achieved through the initiation of development projects in the area in order to stir the interest of the locals to frequent the Blue Mountain. The ecosystem needs to be protected. It is thus important that fire stations be put up within The Blue Mountain to help in putting out forest fires as soon as they are noticed. Preparation of this kind is very important given the value of the blue mountain to the regional economy as a tourist attraction site. References Anon., 20017. Nothern Territory. A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis Essay Example For Students

A Streetcar Named Desire Analysis Essay A Streetcar Named Desire (both text and film) isnt split up into acts, but instead is a chronological sequence of episodes occurring between the months of May and September. Within these episodes beats a conflict and reconciliation rhythm, involving the win and lose of Stellas love. Scene four begins with a vendor shouting something that sounds similar to Stanleys heaven splitting howl STELLLAHHHHH! , subtlety reminding us of the events of the night before. As you can recall, after hitting her, Stanley wins back Stellas love by offering her relentless sex. By connecting the two scenes, Kazan suggests a continuation in character relationships. Therefore, at the start of Scene four, Stanley has possession of Stellas love over Blanche. This is echoed by Stellas response You should stop taking it for granted that I am in something I want to get out of to Blanche when she proposes an escape from Stanleys apartment. Kazan fuels further evidence to this argument by having Stella staged in between Stanley and Blanche at the end of Scene four. Intentionally, the camera dwells on Stellas expression as she shuns Blanches grasping plea, and lovingly embraces her gaudy seed-bearer Stanley. After Blanche was finished bathing, Stella was outside, soStanley started questioning Blanche. She insisted that shehad nothing to hide from him and let him go through allhistorical papers from Belle Reve, the plantation. While livingwith Stella and Stanley, Blanche had met a man namedMitch, who she started dating. She liked him a lot but shehid many things from him. Firstly, she hid secrets of her firstlover, her husband Allan Grey. Every time she thought ofhim, she thought of how he killed himself and she heard thepolka which played in the background. She did not want tospeak of this to Mitch. After Allans death, Blanche used togo to the Tarantula Arms hotel where she would haveintimacies with strangers. She did it because she felt it wouldfill her empty heart. She did not want to tell Mitch becauseshe wanted him to respect her. Blanche was very careful tohide her looks too. She felt that she was old looking andtried to avoid bright lights from glaring down on her. Shecovered a lig ht in Stellas house with a Chinese paper lampto keep it from being so bright she hid her looks from Mitch,he never saw her in the day. Finally, one day, Stanley triedto find out many of Blanches secrets and told them to Mitchso he would not fall for her, even though he was consideringmarrying her. He told Mitch of her intimacies, and told himof when she had a relationship with one of her students. Mitch felt deceived, she lied to him about many things, herage, her past. Stanley taunted Blanche until he attacked herin violent passion. When Blanche tried to tell her sister whatStanley had done to her, she does not know what to think. Blanche retreats into a private dreamworld. She tells Stellaand Eunice, a friend, of how she is going to die. She saysshe will die from eating an unwashed grape. Grapes are asymbol with sexual overtones. Stanley represents theunwashed grape that will kill her. Blanche says that she willdie with her hand in the hand of a young ships doctor andshe will be buried at sea. She will be dropped into an oceanas blue as her first lovers eyes. Blue is used in this play as asymbol of sadness. It represents her husbands death. Herhusband, to her, was different than other men, he hadbeautiful blue eyes and she compared him to a seahorse. .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 , .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .postImageUrl , .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 , .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7:hover , .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7:visited , .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7:active { border:0!important; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7:active , .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7 .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u792217047510bb0678b66b9bd5be6da7:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: carolina EssayThe male seahorse is different because it id him that givesbirth unlike other creatures, as her husband was unlike othermen. Stella does not believe her sister after she tells her whatStanley has done, instead, she has her sent to a mentalinstitution. She cries as Blanche is taken away, perhaps sheknows she has made a mistake but Stanley soothes her, telling her everything will be back to normal, as he is openingher blouse. Stanley has won, Blanche was gone, thingswould be like before, he thought. In this play, there weretwo streetcars mentioned. One was a streetcar named desirewhich symbolized Blanches desire to be loved. The otherwas a streetcar names Cemete ries which symbolizedBlanches fear of death. Both the desire to be loved and thefear of death were quiet apparent in the way Blanchethought. She wished to be loved like she was with herhusband, and she feared
